What is a PRO?
A Performing Rights Organization (SOCAN in Canada, ASCAP/BMI in the US) collects performance royalties when your composition is played publicly.
Steps
- Register as songwriter at SOCAN, ASCAP, or BMI
- Register each original song (title, co-writers, splits)
- Keep split sheets if you co-write — percentages must match PRO registration
- Alabasta reports plays; you collect through your PRO membership
