YouTube, VEVO & discovery — what indie artists should know
Alabasta is not trying to be VEVO. YouTube and streaming apps are where people find you. Alabasta is where they pay you, rally your chart week, and book you. Use both — on purpose.
Leave VEVO to them — and that's OK
VEVO is built for major-label official music videos — polished shoots, global syndication, ad revenue splits tied to big catalog deals. Most indie gospel artists will never "get on VEVO" directly, and you don't need to for a real ministry career.
Your official music video can live on YouTube (free, worldwide). Your testimony clip, live replay, and worship-night set can live on Artist Home — where fans unlock, buy, encourage, and get tickets.
The split — two jobs, two homes
- YouTube — discovery, music videos, short clips, "who is this artist?"
- Apple Music / YouTube Music — passive listening, playlist culture (optional DSP opt-in through Alabasta)
- Alabasta Artist Home — jukebox actions, store, live tickets, booking, Circle, chart rallies, fair payouts
YouTube is where people find you. Alabasta is where they bless you.
Getting on YouTube (every artist can)
- Create a YouTube channel in your artist or ministry name
- Upload your music video, lyric video, or live performance — link to Artist Home in the description
- Add your YouTube URL to Artist Home social links so jukebox fans can subscribe there too
- Pin a comment: "Follow me on Alabasta" — copy from your ministry hub share kit
Don't wait for VEVO polish. A phone-filmed worship night with good audio beats no video at all.
Getting on Apple Music & other DSPs
Use a distributor (DistroKid, TuneCore, etc.) on your own, or opt in to Alabasta’s optional release-hub delivery when you're ready. DSPs pay fractions; Alabasta pays engagement. Build income on Alabasta first, then widen discovery.

What about VEVO?
VEVO channels are typically opened through label or distributor partnerships, not by applying as an unknown indie. If you sign with a label or land a distributor deal that includes VEVO, great — keep your Alabasta link in every description. Until then, YouTube + Artist Home is the honest indie stack.
Your 10 video slots on Alabasta — not VEVO clones
Artist Home videos are for ministry conversion, not competing with billion-dollar video networks:
- Testimony · behind-the-scenes · studio diary
- Full worship set or live concert replay (any length)
- Paid exclusive content — 80% to you on sales
Put the cinematic music video on YouTube. Put the replay fans will pay to own on Alabasta.
Simple weekly habit
- Post one clip on YouTube or Instagram Reels ? link to Artist Home
- Rally ? Like on Alabasta during chart week
